The Braves’ pitching staff has certainly been interesting this season...at least that is one way to describe it if you are feeling kind. Injuries and inconsistency have plagued both the rotation as well as the bullpen leading to less than desirable results especially when combined with the team’s offensive struggles at times. At the beginning of April, the Braves signed old friend Jesse Biddle to provide some depth for the bullpen and when the injuries and struggles began....Biddle joined the squad with some fairly predictable results.
In his eight appearances with the team, Biddle has posted a -0.2 rWAR with an 8.44 ERA with eight walks and 11 strikeouts in 10.2 innings of work. When you are both walking nearly a batter an inning AND you are getting hit a good bit as a reliever, well...your odds are not great. After Biddle’s latest implosion, the team decided to make a roster move.
The #Braves today recalled LHP Tucker Davidson to Atlanta and designated LHP Jesse Biddle for assignment.

Instead of having Biddle occupy a spot on the roster, they are going to give Tucker Davidson another shot at the major leagues. Davidson has been very good as a starter for Gwinnett with a 0.64 ERA with 14 strikeouts and just three walks in 14 innings of work. He last started on May 12th, so he could function as a long man or start if need be very soon. With long man Josh Tomlin being...not great of late, either, Davidson could provide some quality innings if need be.
