Braves place Marcell Ozuna on 10-day injured list, recall Johan Camargo

Ozuna is expected to be out of the lineup for about six weeks

As expected, the Atlanta Braves have placed outfielder Marcell Ozuna on the 10-day injured list with two fractured fingers on his left hand. Ozuna is expected to miss six weeks with the injury. The team recalled infielder Johan Camargo to take Ozuna’s place on the active roster.

Ozuna suffered the injury while sliding into third base in Tuesday’s win over the Red Sox when he jammed his hand into the foot of Rafael Devers. Ozuna was sent back to Atlanta to be examined by team doctors. Further evaluation revealed the fractures. The good news is that the injury won’t require surgery. Ozuna will be in a cast for a period, but if all goes well, will be back sometime in July.

It is by no means an exciting move. Camargo has been on the Atlanta to Gwinnett shuttle all season. He has played sparingly and is 0-for-14 at the plate this season. The Braves went with an outfield of Guillermo Heredia in left, Ender Inciarte in center and Ronald Acuña Jr. in right in Wednesday’s game in Boston. Expect to see more of that this weekend with Ehire Adrianza likely serving as the fourth outfielder.
