Sunday’s game between the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets has been rained out according to Mets owner Steve Cohen.

Brian Snitker spoke with the media and said that he was expecting an update around 5 p.m, but it now appears that the team will be heading back to Atlanta a little early. Snitker said that if the game was rained out, that they would consider starting Charlie Morton in Monday’s game against the Nationals as scheduled and would likely slot in Max Fried for Tuesday.

It has been a rough week for Atlanta who split a two-game series in Boston. Friday’s series opener in New York was rained out. They were blown out by the Mets on Saturday and learned that outfielder Marcell Ozuna was arrested putting his future with the club in jeopardy. Sunday’s rainout means that Atlanta spent a whole week on the road and played just three games.

Neither the Braves or the Mets have officially announced that Sunday’s game is postponed so we will circle back if need be.

Update - The Mets have made Sunday’s postponement official. The game will be made up on July 26 as part of a doubleheader.
