Coming off of a big come-from-behind win on Saturday, the Atlanta Braves will try to secure a series win over the Philadelphia Phillies on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. Pablo Sandoval delivered a two-out, two strike pinch-hit home run in the ninth to send Saturday’s game to extra innings. Then after falling behind 7-4 in the 12th, William Contreras tied the game with a bases loaded double. Ehire Adrianza walked it off two batters later with an opposite field single.
Huascar Ynoa has been one of the biggest surprises of the season for the Braves. He allowed four hits and one unearned run over seven innings last time out against the Nationals. He has a 2.36 ERA in 34 1/3 innings this season while holding opponents to a .187 average against. He has struck out 38 and walked just eight.
The Phillies will counter with their ace Aaron Nola who is also off to a great start in 2021. Nola allowed one run, five hits and struck out 10 over six innings in his last start against the Brewers. He has a 2.89 ERA and has wracked up 49 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings so far this season.
Ronald Acuña Jr. left Saturday’s game after he was hit in the hand with a pitch from Sam Coonrod in the seventh inning. X-Rays came back negative and he is considered day-to-day. Freddie Freeman homered in Saturday’s win snapping an 0-for-22 stretch.
