The injury bug has bitten the Atlanta Braves again as Ronald Acuña Jr. suffered a knee injury while trying to flag down a fly ball off the bat of Jazz Chisholm during the bottom of the fifth inning in Saturday’s game in Miami. Acuña leaped to try and make a play but landed awkwardly and appeared to jam his right leg. He immediately grabbed his right knee and laid on the warning track.

After being attended to by Atlanta’s training staff, Acuña tried to walk off the field but was unable to make it all the way back into the infield. He was emotional as he sat on the ground waiting for the cart. He had to be carried to the tunnel and was then loaded into a wheelchair and taken to the locker room area.
It goes without saying that the Braves can ill afford to be without Acuña for any length of time. Unfortunately, from the looks of this one, that may be the result.
UPDATE - Brian Snitker didn’t have any additional updates on Acuña after the game. Said that he was still being looked at and that they probably wouldn’t know anything until Sunday morning.
