Injured Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. underwent surgery Wednesday to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The surgery was performed by DR. Neil S. ElAttrache in Los Angeles.

Acuña was injured on July 10 while trying to field a liner off the bat of Jazz Chisholm in Miami. It was announced the next day that he had suffered a torn ACL and would miss the remainder of the season. To help soften the blow, the Braves acquired Joc Pederson from the Chicago Cubs coming out of the All-Star break, but there is no way that the team can replace Acuña’s production.

With surgery now behind him, Acuña can focus on his rehab and can begin working his way back for next season. The timeframe for recovery from an ACL injury can vary but hopefully Acuña will be back as quickly as possible.

Since his debut in 2018, Acuña has played in 395 games and is hitting .281/.376/.549 with 78 doubles and 105 home runs.
