The Atlanta Braves announced Saturday morning that they have recalled catcher William Contreras from Gwinnett and placed catcher Travis d’Arnaud on the paternity list. Contreras will be with the team for Saturday’s game in Baltimore.

This will be Contreras’ first appearance on the big league roster since July 5. He was hitting .204/.278/.387 with a 76 wRC+ at the time of his demotion. He has performed well in 32 games at Gwinnett hitting .313/.368/.583 with eight home runs and a 150 wRC+.

It was a whirlwind 24 hours for d’Arnaud who signed a two-year extension, homered in Friday’s 3-0 win over the Orioles and is now leaving the team for the birth of a child. He missed three months of the season due to a torn ligament in his thumb and returned to action on August 11. In six games since his return, d’Arnaud is hitting .292/.414/.625 with four of his seven hits going for extra bases.
