Today is September 1 which means it is roster expansion day around Major League Baseball. For the remainder of the season, teams will be permitted to carry 28 players. Today the Atlanta Braves announced that they have recalled infielder Orlando Arcia and RHP Jacob Webb from Gwinnett.

After putting up big numbers at Triple-A, Arcia got an opportunity to lock down the left field job. He appeared in 22 games but hit just .197./.242/.311 with a 43 wRC+. Arcia has put up big numbers for Gwinnett hitting .282/.351/.516 with 17 home runs in 74 games.

Webb has road the bullpen shuttle for the Braves for most of the season. He currently has a 4.29 ERA and a 4.16 FIP in 21 innings for the big club although he hasn't allowed an earned run in his last five appearances. Webb has been solid for Gwinnett posting a 3.00 ERA and a 2.63 FIP in 24 innings.

The Stripers’ season will continue through October 3 so we could see a situation where the Braves continue to shuttle players up and down. For now, both Arcia and Webb are expected to be in uniform for tonight’s series finale in Los Angeles.
