This comes just days after a COVID-19 outbreak which impacted “up to half the team” wiped out their entire series last week. While details of the IL stints are unknown - one thing was clear and that was Mississippi needed some bodies to be able to field a full team and this transactions may have been the ones to make it happen.
The biggest one is the promotion of Jared Shuster to Mississippi. Jared was drafted in the first round of the 2020 draft and made his professional debut this year. He pitched in 15 games and compiled a total of 58.1 innings where he had a 3.70 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, .215 batting average against, 11.3 K/9, and walked just 2.3 per nine.
The other promotion includes Tyler Ferguson who was added to the Mississippi rotation as well, as they try to replace four players that head to the IL. Tyler, a minor league free agent signing, has a 2.49 ERA in 17 games for Mississippi along with a .202 batting average against, and 0.99 WHIP.
This, of course, does not come without bad news as Mississippi places four players on the IL including Indigo Diaz who is having a dominant year - with a 0.68 ERA, and 0.75 WHIP between Rome, and Mississippi. Nolan Kingham, who has seen time in Gwinnett this season, Sean McLaughlin, and Jefrey Ramos all head to the IL with Indigo.
