Braves AFL Update: Keshawn Ogans homers

Braves infield prospect Keshawn Ogans had a memorable game on Thursday, slugging his first two extra base hits of the AFL in Salt River’s loss.

The Salt River Rafters had a brutal loss on Thursday, blowing a 9-3 lead heading into the sixth inning and losing 10-9 with the eventual winning run scoring in the top of the ninth - however on a positive note for the Braves, David McCabe and Keshawn Ogans combined for three extra base hits in that game. They followed that up with a 7-1 loss on Friday and a 3-2 loss on Saturday to go 0-3 since our last update.

Dylan Dodd

Cumulative stats: 10 IP, 10 H, 14 K, 2 BB, 4 ER, 3.60 ERA

Dodd hasn’t appeared in a game since our last update.

Patrick Halligan

Cumulative stats: 4 ⅔ IP, 7 H, 4 K, 5 BB, 7 ER, 13.50 ERA

Halligan got into Saturday’s game and started off by allowing a leadoff single. He struck out the next batter, threw a wild pitch that saw the runner on first get thrown out at third, then got a groundout to himself to end the inning.

David McCabe

Cumulative stats: 11-39, 2 2B, 15 BB, 17 K, .282/.473/.333

McCabe was at first on Thursday and ended up going two for four with a walk, double, two RBI in the loss. McCabe was at third base on Saturday, but went 0-4 with three strikeouts. That made him two for eight with a walk over the weekend.

Jake McSteen

Cumulative stats: 6 ⅓ IP, 4 H, 8 K, 0 BB, 4 ER, 5.68 ERA

McSteen followed Halligan on Saturday and had a one-two-three inning with a pair of ground outs to start the inning, and then a strikeout to end it.

Keshawn Ogans

Cumulative stats: 12-42, 2B, HR, 2 BB, 9 K, .286/.333/.381

Ogans was at DH on Thursday and had one of the best games of his pro career, going three for five with a homer and double, scoring two runs and picking up a pair of runs batted in. Ogans was at short on Friday and went hitless in four at bats with a pair of strikeouts.

Tyler Tolve

Cumulative stats: 4-33, 2 BB, 11 K, .121/.194/.121

Tolve caught on Friday and was hitless in three at bats, with one strikeout. He was back behind the dish on Saturday, but had an even tougher day as his AFL struggles at the plate expanded to struggles behind the plate. He went 0-4 and made two throwing errors in the loss on Saturday.

Brooks Wilson

Cumulative stats: 3 ⅔ IP, 3 H, 7 K, 6 BB, 7 ER, 17.18 ERA

Brooks came in for the eighth inning on Thursday in a 9-9 tie game and walked the first batter he faced. He settled down quickly, getting a soft ground out to himself and then striking out top prospect Colson Montgomery looking, followed by Aaron Sabato swinging to keep it a tie game.
