Bally Sports announced Monday that they have hired C.J. Nitkowski as an analyst for Atlanta Braves telecasts on Bally Sports South and Bally Sports Southeast beginning with the 2024 season. Nitkowski will work alongside second-year play-by-play announcer Brandon Gaudin.
Bally Sports has had a revolving door of analysts in the booth for Braves broadcasts over the last few seasons. Former outfielder Jeff Francoeur has served as the primary voice, but is taking a step back in order to spend more time with his family.
“It’s time for me to enter a new season where my family comes first,” said Francoeur. “I will be stepping back from being the Braves lead analyst as my wife and I are experiencing the reality of the years flying by and I want to watch my children chase their dreams. I’m excited for what is ahead and appreciative that Bally Sports will continue to let me call games for the team I’ve always loved.”
Francouer and Hall of Famer Tom Glavine will both work a smaller number of games starting in 2024.
Nitkowski has been an analyst on Texas Rangers broadcasts since 2017 and has won six Lone Star Emmy awards. He has national TV experience having previously worked as an analyst for both FOX and FS1 from 2014-19.
“My family and I are beyond thrilled to come home and receive this amazing opportunity to join the Bally Sports’ Atlanta Braves broadcast team,” said Nitkowski. “Braves baseball on Bally Sports is one of the most respected telecasts throughout the industry. I am honored that Bally Sports and the Braves have selected me to join their group and continue their tradition of excellence in television broadcasting.”
Nitkowski enjoyed a 10-year career as a player while pitching for eight different teams including the Braves for 22 games in 2004.
