They say no news is good news, but what about partial, incomplete news where we only have half the events so far? I don’t think there’s a saying about that, but anyway, here’s the half we do know:
The #Braves today outrighted INF Brian Anderson to Triple-A Gwinnett.
— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) July 15, 2024
Feel free to speculate at length about what all this means, by all means.
Anderson began the 2024 season at Triple-A in the Mariners organization, where he did okay (95 wRC+), but was released at the start of June. The Braves snatched him up and had him go 0-for-5 with two strikeouts across three games... giving him a completely silly .472 xwOBA but .000 wOBA on the year. However, he then hit the shelf with a lower body bacterial infection (ew), went on a rehab assignment, and hasn’t been back since.
Anderson is a career 103 wRC+ / 8.8 fWAR guy across 2,527 major league PAs, but again, this move isn’t really about him. Stay tuned.
