The first person that came to mind after reading this post was Prado. I don't really know of anything the Astros have that we could use (sans Berkman, Lee, and Oswalt) and I know they don't have a very good farm. So I suppose I may be way off.
No one took me up on my bet last week that the Royals would pick up Lerew, so unfortunately I get no money for being 100% right about this. You know, it's getting kind of old when the Royals pick up every single player we release.
Marlon Byrd says he's feeling fine, and has shown that his surgically repaired knee isn't doing so bad thus far. Which means, there will be no need for Andruw Jones who has batted .258 with 14Ks in 31ABs during Spring Training thus far. Not implying that the Braves need to go out and get him now, but for the most part, we've all been keeping our tabs on ol' Andruw, no matter where he is.
I know the WBC gets slammed by alot of folks, but this is a great story to come out of last nights game.
I love how Bong was the Asian equivalent of Ray King when he was with the Braves, but whenever he pitches for his country, he all of a sudden turns into Josh Beckett. Korea beats Japan 4-1 to advance to the WBC semis, but MLB can't get over their man-crush and how awesome the losing pitcher was because he's Yu Darvish.
St. Paddy's Day for the Braves, green hats and all.
From the AJC. I wish he hadn't played in the WBC in the first place; he's exactly right that it is a bad format for spring training.
FOX Sports South and SportSouth today announced the return of Braves LIVE, the only expanded pre- and post-game show for the Atlanta Braves. The networks have named broadcast veteran Fred Hickman as the host of Braves LIVE. Jerome Jurenovich returns to Braves LIVE, moving from behind the desk to the field and clubhouse to provide exclusive insight and interviews. Hickman and Jurenovich join analysts and former Braves’ standouts Ron Gant and Brian Jordan for the 30-minute pre-game show and expanded post-game coverage for telecasts on both networks. Braves LIVE coverage begins on Saturday, April 4 at 12:30 p.m. ET on SportSouth before the Braves face the Detroit Tigers at 1 p.m. ET in their final Spring Training game played at Turner Field.
Return of Braves Live Sure, its returning, but without OKT, Our Katy Temple. I'll never forget "You too can stay in the game with Just for Hold Men Color"Had the Braves acquired [Jake Peavy] via trade, they would have paid him at least $63 million over the next four seasons. When you're dishing out that kind of coin, you'd at least like to have some confidence that he'll be [able to] answer the bell when you need him in big games. While the sample size is small it's still somewhat alarming to know that Peavy is 0-3 with a 9.53 ERA (22 2/3 innings, 24 earned runs) in the six combined career starts he's made during the postseason and the World Baseball Classic. Instead of Peavy, the Braves ended up with Derek Lowe, who is 6-5 with a 3.33 ERA in 21 career postseason appearances (10 starts).
Mark Bowman at mlb.com The Dean echo's what I said about those two pitchers the night before....for the Mets. It's a rookie league GCL team, but it's a start.
